The NHS is a wonderful thing and we are very lucky that we are able to access some of the best medical care in the world. However, mistakes do happen in all areas of the NHS, some of which can leave you or loved ones with life-changing problems.
We can help you if you have suffered negligence by an NHS trust in all areas, including:
- A & E
- Infection claims, including MRSA and C.difficile
- Medication errors
- Pressure sore claims
- Misdiagnosed conditions
- Orthopaedic mistakes (such as undiagnosed fractures)
- Urological complications
Suing the NHS
Making a claim against the NHS can feel very daunting and worries about where you are taking the money away from.
When you sue the NHS you do not take money from anyone. There is a separate body called the NHS Litigation Authority (NHSLA) who look after all claims made against the NHS and last year they had a budget of £1.475 billion.
This money comes from schemes that all NHS trusts or the local CCG pay into.
The NHSLA covers the following:
- All NHS employees
- Contracted locums
- Medical academic staff with honorary contracts
- Those conducting clinical trials
- Charitable volunteers
- People undergoing further professional education, training and examinations
- GPs or dentists directly employed by Health Authorities e.g. public health doctors (at airports or seaports)

Can I sue the NHS?
The NHS was created so that good healthcare should be available to all, and it is one of the country’s proudest achievements. However, if something goes wrong during your treatment you deserve answers and, where necessary, financial compensation.
We do not treat your claim lightly. However, the treatment you consider negligent must be considered unreasonable, irresponsible, and harmful.
When someone suffers an injury that impacts their live, or that of a loved one, then it is vital that the NHS has the procedures in place to both compensate the patient and learn from their mistakes.
